Umakant Kanade

Umakant Kanade (b. 1970) is a Pune-based artist known for his evocative monochromatic works that explore the quiet poetry of nature through stones, birds, and trees. A graduate in G.D. Art (Painting) with First Class honors (1990), Kanade has received several awards, including accolades from the Bombay Art Society and the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya.

 

His distinctive visual language, blending abstraction with subtle narrativesymbolism, has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and abroad—including Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai), ICA Gallery (Jaipur), Art Zest (Dubai), and shows in the UK and USA. Kanade has participated in major art festivals and workshops internationally, including in Russia and Egypt. His works have also featured in prominent art auctions globally. Currently a lecturer at Bharati Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, Kanade continues to inspire with a practice deeply rooted in observation, patience, and reverence for nature’s elemental presence.
